Procedure
HCl conc. (3.6 ml) was added at RT to a mixture of (±)-1,1-dimethylethyl4-[[[4-[2-ethyl-1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)butyl]phenyl]amino]carbonyl]-1-piperidinecarboxylate (0.0032 mol) in EtOAc (30 ml). The mixture was stirred at RT for 4 hours, then basified with a concentrated NaOH solution and extracted with EtOAc and then CH2Cl2. The organic layer was separated, dried, filtered and the solvent was evaporated. The residue (1 g) was converted into the hydrochloric acid salt (1:1) in 2-propanol. The precipitate was filtered off and dried, yielding 0.85 g (68%) (±)—N-[4-[2-ethyl-1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)butyl]-phenyl]-4-piperidinecarboxamide monohydrochloride (compound 57).
