Procedure
9.7 g of 3-[4-(tert-butyloxycarbonyl)-1-piperazinyl]-2,2-dimethylpropyl methyl 2,6-dimethyl-4-(m-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate was dissolved in ethanol and 50 ml of an ethanol solution of 9.9N hydrogen chloride was added under cooling with ice. After stirring the mixed solution for 1 hour under cooling with ice, isopropyl ether was added. The solid which separated was collected by filtration, dissolved in saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and extracted with ethyl acetate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and acetone was added to the residue. The crystal which separated was collected by filtration to give 3.5 g of the subject compound (yield: 43%). The IR and NMR data of the compound thus obtained are as follows: ##STR63##
