To a solution of 7-bromo-4-(1-ethoxyvinyl)-2H-chromen-2-one (2.0 g, 6.8 mmol) in THF and H2O was added N-bromosuccinimide (1.3 g, 14.2 mmol) and stirred for 30 min. Toluene was added and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was chromatographed on silica gel (hexane/EtOAc; 80:20) to give the title compound.
