Procedure
N-(2,6-Dichlorophenyl)-N′-(2-methyl-[1,3]dioxolan-2-ylmethyl)guanidine trifluoroacetic acid salt (29 mg) was mixed with 1 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid and heated at 90° C. for 30 min. Cooling was followed by dilution with water and addition of dichloromethane. The mixture was then made alkaline with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution and extracted twice with dichloromethane. The combined organic phases were dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. The residue was mixed with hydrochloric acid and freeze dried. 14 mg of the title compound were obtained.
