Procedure
2-(2,4-Dichlorophenyl)-2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl-methyl)oxirane methanesulphonte salt (5 g, 0.0137 m), 3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (5 g, 0.05 m), and anhydrous potassium carbonate (14 g, 0.1 m) were stirred in dry N,N-dimethylformamide (100 ml) at 80° C. for 1 hour. The solvent was then evaporated and the residue was dissolved in water and extracted with methylene chloride. The combined extracts were washed once with dilute sodium bicarbonate solution, dried (MgSO4), and evaporated to give a solid residue which was recrystallized from isopropanol/water to give the title compound, 3.7 g (74%); m.p. 180°-182° C.
