Procedure
A solution of 7-chloro-11-[(1-methyl)piperidin-4-yl]-5H,11H-pyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzoxazepine (5.5 g; 0.017 mole) and N-bromosuccinimide (3.7 g; 0.021 mole) in 150 ml of tetrahydrofuran was stirred for 20 hours at ambient temperature. The reaction mixture was then diluted with ethyl acetate and washed twice with a dilute Na2SO3 solution and once with water and dried (saturated NaCl solution, anhydrous MgSO4).
Workup
- washwashed twice with a dilute Na2SO3 solution and once with water
- dry with materialdried (saturated NaCl solution, anhydrous MgSO4)
