Procedure

To a cooled (0° C.) solution of the product from Example 13, Step A (1.76 g, 3.70 mmol) in anhydrous THF (30 mL) under nitrogen was added an 1 M solution of lithium aluminum hydride in THF (3.70 mL, 3.70 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 0.5 h, cooled on ice, and a saturated aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate (100 mL) was added. This mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate and the extract evaporated to an oil which was purified by chromatography (silica, gradient, 10% to 40% ethyl acetate in hexane) to give an oil (1.40 g, 93%): LCMS (+APCI) m/z 407 (M+H).
