Procedure

To a solution of 7-bromo-2,6-dimethyl-2H-indazole (1 equiv.) in NMP, was added CuCN (2 equiv.) and heated at 130 oC for 16 h. On completion, water was added to quench the reaction, solid precipitated was filtered and purified by column chromatography to afford the title compound (40-60% yield)
