Under N2 atmosphere, a solution of 7-hydroxy-3,4-dihydro-1H-naphthalen-2-one (85 g, 0.48 mol) and pyrrolidine (264 g, 1.5 mol) in MeOH (3000 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 2 hrs. The solvent was removed in vacuo to give crude 1-(7-methoxy-3,4-dihydro-naphthalen-2-yl)-pyrrolidine (320 g) which was directly used for next step.
