To a stirred solution of 4-(4-chlorophenoxy)piperidine hydrochloride (98 mg, 0.34 mmol), 4-(((tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino)methyl)picolinic acid (100 mg, 0.34 mmol), and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.14 mL, 0.79 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (2 mL) was add HBTU (225 mg, 0.60 mmol) at room temperature. After stirring at 60° C. for 2 hours, the mixture was poured into water (5 mL). This was extracted with ethyl acetate (5 mL) and washed with water (5 mL). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica-gel column chromatography (NH-gel, eluting with ethyl acetate) to give 177 mg (>99% yield) of the title compound as slight brown syrup.
