A mixture comprising 3-Amino-6-bromo-5-trifluoromethyl-pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid (Intermediate 2)(0.102 g, 0.357 mmol), tert-butyl 3-amino-4,6-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrazole-5(2H)-carboxylate (0.08 g, 0.357 mmol), HATU (0.136 g, 0.357 mmol) and N-methylmorpholine (0.071 ml, 0.713 mmol) in DMF (5 ml) was stirred at RT for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (15 ml) and the resulting orange precipitate was filtered under vacuum and washed with water (10 ml). Purification of the resulting solid by chromatography on silica eluting with iso-hexane:EtOAc (gradient of 0 to 100% EtOAc) to afforded the title compound as a yellow solid.
