To a mixture of 2-((4-fluoro-3-nitrophenoxy)methyl)quinoline (2.0 g, 6.7 mmol) and 4-(aminomethyl)benzonitrile (1.1 g, 8.3 mmol) in DMA (20 mL) was added DIPEA (3.5 mL, 20 mmol) and heated to 100° C. for 16 h. The mixture was cooled and poured into water (400 mL). The resulting solids were collected by filtration to provide 2.76 g of the title compound. The material was used without further purification. MS (ESI): mass calcd. for C24H18N4O3, 410.43; m/z found 411.1 [M+H]+.
