Procedure
A stirred solution of 5-chloro-6-methyl-2-(4-nitro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-1H-benzoimidazole [0.320 g, Example 249(g)] and tin chloride (1.10 g) in ethanol (5 ml) was heated in a Smith Creator microwave at 140° C. for 10 minutes. The reaction mixture was basified using saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution to pH 8 and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated to give 3-(5-chloro-6-methyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4-ylamine as a pale brown solid. LC-MS (METHOD B): RT=2.28 minutes, 248.13 (M+H)+.
