Procedure
A stirred, cooled (ice bath) solution of ethyl-2-fluoro-hydroxy-benzoate (Intermediate 5, 0.368 g, 2 mmol) and 2,6-di-tertbutyl-4-methyl-pyridine (0.81 g, 8 mmol) in 8 mL of dichloromethane was treated with trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride (0.1 g, 4 mmol). The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to ambient temperature and stirred overnight. The reaction mixture was subjected to flash column chromatography over silica gel (230-400 mesh) using 5-10% ethyl acetate in hexane as the eluent to afford the title compound (0.53 g, 85%).
