Add 0.73 ml of 1N sodium hydroxide solution dropwise to a mixture of 120 mg (0.244 mmol) of (2E)-3-(3-{[5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-phenylfuro[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl]amino}phenyl)acrylic acid ethyl ester in 2 ml of THF. Stir the mixture at 50° C. overnight, then cool and acidify with 1N hydrochloric acid. Filter off the precipitated solid with suction, wash repeatedly with water and dry at 50° C. under high vacuum overnight. 106 mg (93.7% of theory) of the target compound are obtained as a colourless solid.
