A 4 N solution of hydrochloric acid in ethyl acetate (10 mL) was added to tert-butyl [6-(aminomethyl)bicyclo[3.2.0]hept-3-en-6-yl]acetate (0.99 g, 4.17 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. Then, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue was suspended by the addition of dichloromethane. To the suspension, triethylamine was then added dropwise, and the resulting powder was collected by filtration. The obtained powder was washed with dichloromethane and then dried under reduced pressure to obtain the compound of interest as a white powder (211.6 mg, 35%).
