To a solution of 1-5 (30 mg, 0.10 mmol) and 2-aminopyridine (10 mg, 0.11 mmol) in ethanol (1 mL) was added sodium bicarbonate (16 mg, 0.20 mmol) in a single portion and the reaction was heated at 80° C. After 2 h the mixture cooled to room temperature, diluted with ethyl acetate (5 mL) and washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (2×5 mL). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude material was purified by silica gel chromatography (50-100% EtOAc/hexanes) to give Example 1 as a white solid. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.03 (dt, J=6.7, 1.2 Hz, 1H), 7.57 (s, 1H), 7.52 (br d, J=9.1 Hz, 1H), 7.45 (s, 1H), 7.13 (ddd, J=9.0, 6.8, 1.2 Hz, 1H), 6.74 (td, J=6.8, 1.1 Hz, 1H), 2.88 (s, 3H), 2.81-2.76 (m, 1H), 2.68-2.62 (m, 1H), 2.65 (s, 3H), 2.39 (s, 3H), 1.93-1.83 (m, 2H); MS: m/z=346.5 (M+H).
