A mixture of methyl 4-(7-methoxyquinolin-3-yl)benzoate (632 mg, 2.16 mmol), m-CPBA (742 mg, 4.31 mmol) and DCM (10 mL) was stirred overnight. Saturated Na2CO3 solution was added and adjusted the pH>7, the organic layer was washed with water (50 mL×2), dried over NaSO4 and evaporated in vacuo to give the crude product as a yellow solid (540 mg, 81.0%).
