Procedure

8-(4-Cyclobutyl-piperazin-1-yl)-9-ethyl-6,6-dimethyl-11-oxo-6,11-dihydro-5H-benzo[b]carbazole-3-carbonitrile was dissolved at room temperature and added with 6 v/w of DMF and added dropwise with 1.05 eq. of an aqueous solution of methane sulfonic acid (2 M). The resulting solution was added dropwise to 60 v/w of acetonitrile. The precipitated solid was filtered and dried to give 8-(4-cyclobutyl-piperazin-1-yl)-9-ethyl-6,6-dimethyl-11-oxo-6,11-dihydro-5H-benzo[b]carbazole-3-carbonitrile monomethane sulfonic acid salt.
