To a solution of 1-(2-ethyl-1-methyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-6-yl)-4-hydroxypyridin-2(1H)-one (400 mg), (4-(trifluoromethyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-yl)methanol (544 mg) and triphenylphosphine (1.17 g) in THF (35 ml) was added bis(2-methoxyethyl) azodicarboxylate (1.04 g) at room temperature. After 3 h, the mixture was poured into water and extracted with EtOAc. The extract was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (EtOAc/MeOH), followed by recrystallization from IPA-IPE to give the title compound (175 mg) as a white solid.
