Procedure

To a solution of 3-iodo-4-methoxy-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine in DMF (5 mL) was added sodium hydride (60% dispersion in mineral oil, 73.0 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr, (2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (523 mg) was added thereto, and the mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction mixture was extracted with water and ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The obtained residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (122 mg).
