To a solution (10 mL) of 1-(2,6-difluorophenyl)-4-methoxy-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridin-3-yl trifluoromethanesulfonate (500 mg) obtained in Step C of Example 35 in DMF was added N-chlorosuccinimide (215 mg) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was heated at 50° C. for 21 hr, and the mixture was allowed to be cooled to room temperature. To the reaction mixture was added water under ice-cooling, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/methanol) to give the title compound (259 mg).
