Procedure
To a solution of tert-butyl 2-methyl-1-(3-oxobutan-2-yl)-1H-indole-3-carboxylate (550 mg, 1.83 mmol) in THF (8 mL) was added NaBH4 (139 mg, 3.66 mmol) at 0° C. under N2. The reaction was stirred at 31° C. for 20 hrs. The mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and saturated aqueous NaHCO3. The organic layer was concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound (520 mg) as a yellow oil which was used directly without purification.
