To a solution of phenol 185 (2.29 g, 6.23 mmol) in DMF (30 mL) were added tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride (1M in THF, 9.35 mL, 9.35 mmol), imidazole (1.3 g, 18.7 mmol) and catalytic DMAP. The mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 15 hours. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc/aq. 50% NaCl solution (100 mL/500 mL). The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to provide the product 186 (2.57 g, 86%).
