Triethylsilane (0.2 ml, 1.25 mmol) was added slowly to a solution of (4-(benzyloxy)-6-chloropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazin-3-yl)methanol 5.51 (142 mg, 0.49 mmol) in TFA (3 mL). After 19 hours, an additional 0.4 mL of triethylsilane was added and mixture was heated to 60 degrees for 4.5 hours. Mixture was cooled to rt and concentrated under reduced pressure. Resulting residue was taken up in DCM and washed with sat. NaHCO3 (aq). Aqueous layer was extracted with DCM. Combined organics were dried, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to yield 6-chloro-3-methylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazin-4-ol 5.52 (90 mg), which was used in the next step without further purification.
