A solution of 3-Hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-3-[4-(2-methyl-quinolin-4-ylmethoxy)-phenyl]-propionic acid ethyl ester (0.10 g, 0.25 mmol) in THF (1 mL) was treated with a solution of KOH/NH2OH/MeOH (3 mL) under nitrogen at room temperature. The reaction was stirred for 1.5 h, acidified with TFA and concentrated. The product was purified by HPLC on a C-18 column eluting with an acetonitrile:water:TFA gradient to give the title compound (0.51 g, 54%) as a white solid. MS found: (M+H)+=381.
