To a degassed solution of 1-bromo-4-(methoxymethoxy)benzene (360 mg, 1.66 mmol), pyridin-4-ylboronic acid (307 mg, 2.50 mmol), and Cs2CO3 (1.09 g, 3.35 mmol) in THF (5 mL) was added Pd(PPh3)4 (190 mg, 0.16 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated at 80° C. overnight and diluted with EtOAc (50 mL). It was washed with H2O (2×25 mL), dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated. Purification on a silica gel column gave the desired product as a white solid (265 mg). NMR (CDCl3): 8.63 (d, 2H), 7.67 (d, 2H), 7.47 (d, 2H), 7.16 (d, 2H), 5.24 (s, 2H), 3.52 (s, 3H).
