To a solution of (1-benzyl-2-hydroxy-3-isobutylamino-propyl)-carbamic acid hexahydro-furo[2,3-b]furan-3-yl ester 19 in CH2Cl2 (4 mL) was added 4-fluoro-3-cyanobenzenesulfonyl chloride (92 mg, 0.42 mmol) followed by NaHCO3 (40 mg) and satd. NaHCO3 (0.4 mL) and stirred at RT for 1 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (25 mL) and washed with water, brine and dried with Na2SO4 and concentrated to furnish crude product (240 mg). The crude product was purified by column chromatography using 1/1 ethyl acetate/hexane to provide 200 mg product (92% yield).
