Procedure
A mixture of 6.0 g (31.2 mmole) of the carbinol obtained under a. above, 60 ml of isopropenyl acetate and 0.025 g of p-toluenesulfonic acid was heated to reflux during 20 h. After cooling, the mixture was taken in ether, washed with a 5% aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate, dried and concentrated. Bulb-to-bulb distillation (about 100°/0.05 hPa) gave 2.5 g (10.7 mmole; yield 34,2%) of (±)-(1RS,2SR,3RS,7RS)-3-methyl-tricyclo [6.2.2.02,7 ]dodec-9-en-3- yl acetate.
