A solution of 3,3-diphenylpropylamine (4.00 g, 18.9 mmol) and ammonium thiocyanate (1.60 g, 20.8 mmol) in bromobenzene (30 mL) was refluxed for 1 hour. After cooling, the solid precipitate was recovered, rinsed with diethyl ether, water, and ethanol, and dried to provide 3.00 g (yield 59%) of the title compound.
