Procedure

To a solution of 2-chloro-N-{2-(ethylamino)-6-(trifluoromethyl)-3-pyridinyl}-5-bromo-3-pyridinecarboxamide (766 mg, 1.8 mmol) in DMF (18 mL) was added NaH (137 mg, 5.4 mmol). The reaction was stirred at 80° C. After 1 h the reaction was allowed to cool to room temperature, and then was poured in water (20 mL). The resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×). The combined organic layer was successively washed with water and brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (hexane:EtOAc, 7:3) to give the desired compound (200 mg, 28% yield) as a yellow solid.
