Procedure

Chlorodimethyl(1,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2,3-dimethyl-s-indacen-1-yl)silane (5.00 g, 0.01806 moles) was stirred in hexane (80 mL) as NEt3 (3.29 g, 0.03251 moles) and t-butylamine (1.81 g, 0.01824 moles) were added. This mixture was allowed to stir 16 hours. After the reaction period the mixture was filtered and the volatiles removed resulting in the isolation of the desired product as a yellow oil (5.55 g, 90.9 percent).
