Methyl 2-chloro-6-(methylthio)isonicotinate (Intermediate 83; 290 mg), was dissolved in anhydrous DCM (5 ml). mCPBA (345 mg) was added and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 90 minutes. The mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed with water, 10% sodium thiosulfate, water, brine and dried over sodium sulfate. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and purified by flash chromatography eluting with EtOAc:Hexane (7:3) to afford the title compound (129 mg).
