Procedure
A solution of dichloride 4 (12 mg, 0.019 mmol) and 2-tert-butyl-1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine (BTMG, 0.2 mL) in 1,2-dichloroethane (0.5 mL) was stirred at 60° C. After 70 h, 1 M HCl (28 mL) was added and the mixture was extracted with 20 mL CH2Cl2. The dichloromethane solution was washed further with 1 M HCl (3×25 mL) and then was dried (Na2SO4), filtered and evaporated. Purification by flash chromatography (0%→15% ethyl acetate/hexanes) gave compound 6a, contaminated with 15% of the alkene regioisomer 6b as an inseparable mixture (10 mg, 93%).
