A suspension of N-(3,3-diethyl-1-methyl-6-nitro-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-5-yl)-acetamide (1,38 g) in 2-propanol (5 ml) and hydrochloric acid (6 N; 20 ml) is stirred at 100° C. for 2 h. After cooling the mixture is diluted with water and extracted with CH2Cl2. The organic layer is washed with brine, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give the desired compound (1.12 g).
