Procedure

Tri-ethylamine (1 ml) was added into a solution of indole-3-glyoxylyl chloride, intermediate 9 (50 mg, purchased from Lancaster) and intermediate 10 2-(N-benzoylaminoethyl)-pyrrolidine (49 mg, Wang, et al, Tetrahedron Lett. 1999, 40, 6745-6747) in THF (5 ml). After the reaction was stirred for 10 hours, the solvents were removed under vacuum to afford a residue which was purified using Shimadzu automated preparative HPLC System to give 2-(N-benzoylaminoethyl)-1-[(indol-3-yl)-2-oxoacetyl]-pyrrolidine (20 mg).
