Procedure

27.7 g of 4-bromonaphthalene-1,8-dicarboxylic anhydride, 19.0 g of 2,6-diisopropylaniline and 9.2 g of anhydrous zinc acetate in 65 ml of N-methylpyrrolidone were heated at 200° C. for 3 hours. After cooling, the precipitate formed was filtered off, washed and dried to give 26.2 g of 4-bromo-N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)naphthalene-1,8-dicarboximide having a melting point of 277° C.
