Procedure
A mixture of 3-(naphthalene-1-sulfonyl)-1H-indazole-5-carbaldehyde (0.15 g, 0.44 mmoles) and MeMgBr (0.36 ml of 3M solution in ether, 1.1 mmoles) was stirred in THF at −20° C. to 0° C. for 30 minutes. Reaction mixture was diluted with water, acidified to pH=3 with 2N HCl, then extracted with EtOAc, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound (0.13 g, 3.9 mmoles).
