Procedure
1 g of 4-hydroxy-4-(4-cyclohexyl-2-methoxyphenyl)-butyric acid is dissolved in 20 ml of ethyl acetate and hydrogenated in the presence of 100 mg of Pd on carbon (10%). When the hydrogen has been completely absorbed, filtration takes place. The filtrate is evaporated and the residue is recrystallised from CH2Cl2 -pentane. M.p. 104°-105°.
