To a solution of 1H-1,2,3-benzotriazole-5-carboxylic acid (2 g), EDCI/HCl (2.82 g), and HOBt in DMF (70 ml) was added an aqueous NH3 solution (5.1 ml), followed by reaction at room temperature for 2 hours. It was concentrated, and the residue was washed with a saturated NaHCO3 solution, collected by filtration, and dried to obtain 1H-1,2,3-benzotriazole-5-carboxamide (1.98 g) as a black solid.
