To a solution of 100 mg of 2-[(2S,4R,5R)-4-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-5-[4-(3-methoxy-propyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[1,4]oxazin-6-ylmethoxy]-1-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-piperidin-2-yl]-ethylamine in 3 ml of ethanol are added 0.006 ml of acetone, 0.009 ml of acetic acid and 0.032 g of sodium cyano borohydride. The reaction mixture is stirred overnight at room temperature, diluted with tert-butyl methyl ether, washed with 1N sodium hydroxide and the organic phases are combined and dried over sodium sulfate. The crude product is obtained as a turbid yellow oil, which is used in the next step without any further purification. Rf=0.23 (EtOAc-heptane 2:1); Rt=4.59.
