6-(3-Pyridyl)-1-hex-5-ynol (0.15 g, 0.86 mmol) was added to a stirred suspension of 10% palladium on charcoal (20 mg) in ethanol. The reaction was stirred at room temperature under hydrogen for 24 h. The mixture was filtered through celite and evaporated to give a clear oil. Column chromatography (flash silica gel; ethyl acetate) gave Z-6-(3-pyridyl)-1-hex-5-enol (70 mg, 46%).
