A degassed solution of 3-amino-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (0.610 g, 3 mmol), 1-bromo-2-fluoro-4-methylsulfanyl-benzene (1.13 g, 5.1 mmol), Pd2dba3 (0.14 g, 0.15 mmol), Xantphos (0.17 g, 0.3 mmol) and cesium carbonate (1.94 g, 6.0 mmol) in toluene (20 ml) was subjected to microwave irradiation at 150° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to ambient temperature then diluted with ethyl acetate and filtered through a pad of Celite®. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give a residue that was purified by flash chromatography (Si-PPC, ethyl acetate: DCM, gradient 0:100 to 40:100) to afford the title compound as a yellow solid (0.25 g, 24%). LCMS (method B): RT=2.45 min, M+H+=346.
