Procedure

A mixture of 2-[8-chloro-3-(4-chlorobenzyl)-2-difluoromethoxy-4-methylquinolin-5-yloxy]propionic acid methyl ester (0.22 g), tetrahydrofuran (3.0 mL) and 1.0 M aqueous lithium hydroxide solution (1.0 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The mixture was acidified by the addition of sodium dihydrogenphosphate, concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution, dried over magnesium sulfate and the solvent removed under reduced pressure to afford title compound, 0.20 g.
