Experimental conditions analogous to those described for Step 1 of Example 3, from 5.08 g (23.4 mmol) of 4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, 1.12 g (28.1 mmol) of 60% sodium hydride, 4.52 g (28.1 mmol) of 3-chlorobenzyl chloride in 60 mL DMF at 60° C. to give 7.01 g of the product as an off-white solid.
