To a solution of di-tert-butyl 2,2′-((2-(2-(((4-sulfamoylphenethyl)amino)methyl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)acetyl)azanediyl)diacetate (244 mg, 0.43 mmol), thiazole-2-carbaldehyde (68 mg, 0.61 mmol), AcOH (0.05 mL) in DCE (10 mL) at 0° C. was treated with NaBH(OAc)3 (212 mg, 1.0 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hrs and decomposed with water. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to give a residue. The residue was purified by biotage over silica gel to afford di-tert-butyl 2,2′-((2-(2-(((4-sulfamoylphenethyl)(thiazol-2-ylmethyl)amino)methyl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)acetyl)azanediyl)diacetate as a colorless oil (200 mg, 70%). MS (ESI), 663.3 (M+H)+.
