Procedure

Phosphorus oxybromide (2.4 g, 8.28 mmol) was added to a solution of intermediate D35 (0.85 g, 4.14 mmol) in DMF (60 ml), and the mixture was heated at 110° C. for 1 hour. After cooling in an ice bath, the solution was partitioned between water and EtOAc. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×200 ml), the combined organic fractions were dried (Na2SO4) and the solvent evaporated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by column chromatography (silica gel; DCM as eluent). The desired fractions were collected and evaporated in vacuo to yield intermediate D36 (0.99 g, 89%).
