Procedure
A suspension of Example 348A (0.5 g, 1.19 mmol) in methanol (50 mL) and THF (20 mL) was treated with 2N NaOH (3.6 mL, 7.2 mmol), stirred at room temperature for 4 hours, and heated to reflux for 1 hour. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with water, acidified to pH 3 with 4N HCl, and diluted with brine resulting in the formation of a precipitate. The solid was collected by filtration and dried to give 0.417 g of the desired product. MS (ESI(+)) m/e 406 (M+H)+; 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.41 (m, 3H); 7.55 (s, 1H); 7.56 (d, J=6.0 Hz, 1H); 7.66-7.71 (m, 3H); 8.14 (s, 1H); 8.47 (s, 1H); 9.30 (s, 1H); 9.32 (s, 1H).
