To a solution of 2-(4-propoxyphenyl)-1-benzofuran-6-ol (918 mg) in DMF (10 mL) was added sodium hydride (60% oil, 137 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 min. To the reaction mixture was added (2S)-2-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]propyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (1.13 g), and the mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 1 hr. To the reaction mixture was added water, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The obtained organic layer was washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (460 mg).
