Procedure
Potassium carbonate (56.9 g; 411.8 mmol) was added to a solution of (rac)-2,2,2-trifluoro-N-[methyl(3-nitrobenzyl)oxido-λ6-sulfanylidene]acetamide (25.6 g; 82.4 mmol) in MeOH (1768 mL) at room temperature. The batch was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature before it was diluted with ethyl acetate and saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution. After extraction with ethyl acetate (2×) the combined organic phases were dried (sodium sulfate), filtered and concentrated to give the desired product (13.9 g; 65.1 mmol).
